An Individual Funding Requests (IFR) is a request to fund, for an individual, an episode of healthcare that currently falls outside commissioned services, or when a patient does not meet the clinical criteria for a procedure as set out in ICB Commissioning policies but can demonstrate exceptionality in accordance with the definition. Exceptionality is defined as:
‘The patient or their circumstances are significantly different from the general population of patients with the condition in question and the patient is likely to gain significantly more benefit from the intervention than might normally be expected for patients with that condition.’.
The request may be for any type of healthcare, a service, a piece of equipment/aid or a specific treatment or medicine. For further information relating to Individual Funding Requests please click here.
